Freedom of Movement Improved Vitality

Welcome to Ausra Yoga Ayurveda (AYA) Therapy

My mission is to guide my students and clients towards a better quality of life: improve self awareness, calm the mind, resolve existing health conditions, and prevent disease.

Through sustained focus and meditation on our patterns, habits, and conditioning, we gain knowledge and understanding of our past and of how we can change the patterns that aren't serving us to live more freely and fully. —Yoga Sutra III.18

My approach to yoga is to use the practice to explore the body / mind connection and to bring awareness to everyday life. By using yoga tools: movement, breathing techniques, relaxation, meditation, and philosophy, I educate my clients how to make healthy choices and develop a better relationship with themselves, become healthier, stronger, and more balanced.

ayurveda: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Wellness

Ayurveda, a traditional system of medicine originating in India over 5,000 years ago, offers a holistic approach to health and well-being. Focused on achieving balance between the body, mind, and spirit, Ayurveda is personalized to each individual's unique constitution, or "dosha." By incorporating practices such as herbal medicine, diet, yoga, and meditation, Ayurveda seeks to prevent illness, promote longevity, and restore harmony within the body. Embracing the principles of Ayurveda can lead to enhanced vitality, improved mental clarity, and a deeper connection to oneself and the world. Discover the transformative power of Ayurveda and unlock the secrets to a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Yoga has been a part of my life for over 20 years. Since I first began attending yoga classes, my practice has shifted from a physical exercise to a healing art. My approach to yoga is to use the practice to explore the body/mind connection and to bring awareness to everyday life. I am committed to exploring and meeting the individual needs of my students and making yoga friendly, fun, and accessible to everyone.

After an initial 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Dubai, UAE, I continued to expand my knowledge in Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy. In 2017 I completed an Ayurvedic Health Counselor program at Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Fremont, California. I am a Certified Yoga Therapist from an 800-hour Yoga Therapist accredited school in Larkspur, CA.

Having gone through my own health challenges, I have experienced first hand how consistent yoga practice and application of Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle can alleviate symptoms and improve everyday well being.

Testimonials

  • Just before COVID lockdown, I sustained a major back injury with three crushed vertebrae. I was most grateful to find Ausra's guidance. She constructed a custom routine that she fine tuned as I recovered. She skillfully took into account my limitations, and changing capabilities. In addition, she incorporated the physical therapist's specific instruction's, fine tuning my form to ensure it was supportive of the objectives. I am really indebted to her for getting my strength and flexibility back.

  • A sudden onset of transverse myelitis left me unable to walk, with ongoing neural deficits in my legs, and significant pain. Ausra has provided me with an individually tailored yoga program, beginning from when I was still bedbound, and which has been the single most important factor in my recovery. She has a remarkable ability to tailor a practice to individual needs, even when they are changing week to week. She's an extremely knowledgeable, kind and empathetic teacher -- highly recommended to anyone who wants to feel and function better.

  • Ausra is a truly excellent teacher. Professional, caring, always keeps me on track. Her yoga therapy techniques helped my back so much I have not seen my chiropractor or massage therapist for months (something I used to do once a month). She has a lot of knowledge in Ayurveda (the ancient Indian medicine) and she makes yoga experience so much richer and informed on so many more levels. She has a keen eye and she spotted things about my posture than no one else pointed out to me before. I feel she brought a lot of light to my blind spots. She has my highest recommendations!
